SCHOOL CANCELLATION PROCEDURE
Due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, it is sometimes necessary to close school, delay the opening of school or dismiss students earlier then the regularly scheduled dismissal time.
Whenever it is necessary to cancel, delay (90 minutes) or dismiss students early, parents will be notified via Connect-ED, the district’s web-based telecommunications system. Normally, parents may expect to receive a telephone call at approximately 5:30 AM in the event of a cancellation/delay and as soon as practicable with regard to an early dismissal.
In order for parents to enjoy the benefit of this highly effective communication system, it is essential that your child’s school have both your home telephone number and a secondary telephone number (cell phone or work). If your primary or secondary telephone number should change during the year, please notify your child’s Principal immediately.
In addition to relying upon Connect-ED to communicate critical information about cancellations, delays and early dismissals, the district also posts announcements to the following television and radio stations:
Channels 3, 8 and 30
WICH and CTY
If for any reason Connect-ED is inoperable, these stations will serve as the districts primary communication source.
